Cambridge Bicycle

I am so impressed! I have been coming to Cambridge Bicycle for a couple years now for my super old, third-hand Motobecane road bike. I forgot I needed to make an appointment for a tune-up, so I arrived today without one. The shop was very busy, but they still made time to check me in, and gave me an evaluation of my gears, breaks, etc. within minutes of me entering the store. Luckily, I didn't need the full tune-up, and with a little oil I was good to go for the season free of charge! So grateful to the team for this service.

I visited the mechanic's shop and approached a guy for advice, seeking to address a squeaking issue with my brakes. However, the mechanic assured me that the noise was a typical occurrence and would eventually subside. Given his expertise in the field, I heeded his words. Unfortunately, a week later, the squeaking intensified. Consequently, I disassembled the brake system and discovered a disconcerting sight—the brake pads had worn down to the bare metal.

I am a recent customer that had very specific needs for my bike. And the staff was able to guide me and also outfit me with a bike that they were able to customize for me. Each staff had particular areas of expertise. So I advise you to get as many opinions and ask as many questions as possible. They put up with all my questions and I feel like I ended up with just what I needed. Thank you so much guys. Also, Josh, the manager was extremely helpful in getting everything in a good package and accessories that made sense for me. They even assembled my bike rack onto my hitch as part of my bike purchase! And in appreciation for them going the extra mile I did buy a few cases of Gatorade and four boxes of Cliff bars for the staff. i would definitely recommend Cambridge bicycle. I love my new bike!

Every experience I've had with this shop has been a poor one, customer service, poor recommendations, and lying. Their entire business depends on the proximity to MIT and the students who don't know any better, otherwise they would be out of business. Before buying anything from them, check online because they will regularly markup the price 20%. Avoid this shop if you can.

Cambridge Bikes always does a great job helping me keep my bikes in good shape. Just took my daily commuter in for a much needed tuneup and she came back riding like a dream! Honestly, the bike felt brand new again. The staff are friendly and helpful, and I appreciate that they take their time talking to me about what might need replacing (in this brake pads and chain/cassette) and are very transparent about cost estimates upfront. The only downside is that they have such a great collection of bike bags and bike gear I’m always tempted to get myself a bike treat whenever I go in ;)

I have a bike I bought when Covid started. It lasted about 6 months before I had to get some simple repairs, I don’t treat it poorly at all. Anyways anytime I get a repair, usually to fix the breaks since the squeak a lot, the repair doesn’t last more than 2-3 weeks before I have to get it fixed again. Recently I got what was supposed to be a full tune up, only to find out 1 week later there were still 3 issues with the bike after. The big issue I had was with the chain skipping and after I got the tune up it was 100x worse. Yo fix the chain the chain skipping which they were supposed to during the tune up, they said it would cost me an additional 50$ to fix, even though they said anything wrong with the bike after the tune up would be free to fix. I believe they may be giving intentionally bad repairs so you have to come back less than a month later. This store is pretty trash.

I’ve popped into this shop to ask a couple questions over the past several weeks as I’ve been trying to find the best gravel bike for my lifestyle. Today, after test riding two different bikes, I finally purchased an all-city gorilla monsoon & I couldn’t be happier with my bike and the customer service! Special shout out to Rob for being super kind, honest, and helpful (he was primarily the one who helped me) - but all of the staff have been really patient with me and great at explaining things both in person & over the phone (I’m still a newbie in the bike community). I was in a bit of a hurry to head out after my new bike was done getting it’s final tune-up to head out the door, so I turned down the mechanic’s offer to get the seat set to my ideal height etc. - but another mechanic stepped in and gave me a multi tool ~on the house~ to make sure I’d have no issues making those adjustments myself. 🙂 I will definitely return here and recommend this shop to anyone!
